Power your knowledge.
Answers are adapted from the original FAQ page. Technical, range, safety, and service statements require product-owner review.
What does kWh mean?
kWh means kilowatt-hour, a unit used to describe energy storage capacity in a battery.
What is the difference between kW and kWh?
kW is a unit of power. kWh is a unit of energy. The original FAQ uses these terms to distinguish motor output from battery capacity.
How do I convert horsepower to kilowatts?
The original FAQ gives the conversion 1 horsepower ≈ 0.746 kW. Confirm rating conventions when comparing product specifications.
What does torque mean on a boat?
Torque is rotational force at the propeller shaft. The archived FAQ describes it as one factor that affects acceleration, especially at lower speeds.
What is planing?
Planing describes a boat rising and traveling on the water’s surface rather than pushing through it. The speed and load required depend on the hull and setup.
How far can an electric outboard travel?
The original battery FAQ cites about 215 km at 5 knots for a 50/75 HP three-module, 43 kWh configuration. Range is highly dependent on hull, load, conditions, and speed; confirm the test basis and current battery configuration before relying on this figure.
Can an electric outboard operate in salt water?
The original FAQ says electric outboards can be used in fresh and salt water and recommends rinsing with fresh water and following the maintenance schedule. Verify the current model-specific care instructions.
What maintenance does an electric outboard need?
The source FAQ describes routine cleaning, lubrication, and inspection and directs owners to the maintenance schedule in the owner’s manual. Follow the current manual for the installed system.
Can the side throttle be used on the left or right?
Yes. The product-owner brief confirms the same bidirectional side throttle can be used on either side of the helm. Confirm installation orientation in the current guide.
Where can I find product and installation documents?
The original site lists brochures and model-specification documents. The GLIDE Resources page will host the corresponding approved files when they are migrated.
